What you’ll be doing

We are looking for an experienced Crane Operator to join a reputable mechanical engineering operation based in Wiri, Auckland. You will be responsible for safely operating a Tadano 25-tonne crane, supporting mechanical and piping works, and assisting with the lifting and positioning of pipes and related materials.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced operator who understands safe lifting practices and can work effectively alongside mechanical and piping teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and control a Tadano 25-tonne crane safely and efficiently while following all site requirements and safety procedures. Lift, move and accurately position pipes, piping components, equipment and materials as directed. Support piping crews by safely positioning pipes and materials for installation. Carry out crane pre-start checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements. Follow approved lifting plans, site procedures and safe work practices. Work closely with riggers, dogmen, pipefitters, mechanical trades and site supervisors. Ensure loads are correctly secured, balanced and within the crane’s safe working limits. Assist with the setup and positioning of the crane, including checking ground conditions and work areas. Maintain clear communication with the lifting team using agreed hand signals and/or radio communication. Monitor the work area for hazards and maintain safe exclusion zones during lifting operations. Complete required crane and lifting documentation, inspections and daily records. Maintain the crane and work area in a clean, safe and organised condition. Follow all H&S requirements, site rules and lifting procedures at all times. Perform other general lifting and site-support duties as require

About You Proven experience operating mobile cranes, preferably Tadano or similar equipment. Relevant and current NZ crane operator licence/certification and endorsements required for the work. Strong understanding of lifting operations, load limits and safe crane operation. Experience supporting mechanical, piping or industrial construction projects is highly desirable. Able to read and follow lifting instructions and site procedures. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Reliable, safety-focused and physically capable of working in an industrial environment. Available to work 10-hour shifts, 5 days per week.
