TTM crew and traffic controllers typically earn in the mid-to-high $20s per hour. STMS-qualified supervisors typically earn from the low-to-mid $30s upward, with experienced STMS on complex closures at the top of the band. Night works, which are constant in this sector, usually carry loadings on top.
The pathway runs from basic TTM crew training through traffic controller to STMS, with categories matched to road types. Each step is a short course plus practical experience, and each step raises both your rate and how early you get called for work. Employers and agencies frequently fund or subsidise the next step for reliable crew, ask before paying for a course yourself.
