General construction labourers typically earn in the mid-to-high $20s per hour, with experienced hammerhands higher. Class 2 drivers usually sit in the high $20s to low $30s; Class 4-5 drivers above that. Digger and heavy-plant operators with current tickets typically earn from the low $30s upward, with experienced operators on civil jobs at the top of the market. Night works and short-notice cover carry loadings.
