Where the time actually goes in hiring, and what an agency removes from the critical path.
The typical NZ hiring cycle for an hourly role runs three to six weeks: write the ad, wait, screen, interview, reference-check, negotiate, notice period. For a salaried professional it is often double. Here is where that time actually goes, and what an agency removes.
Most of a hiring cycle is dead time: waiting for applications, waiting for callbacks, waiting for notice periods. An agency with a live bench deletes the first two entirely; a vetted worker can be on site the same day.
Under time pressure, internal teams compress reference checks and licence verification, and that is exactly where mis-hires slip through. An agency does this work before demand exists, not during a crisis.
Labour hire workers are the agency's employees. PAYE, holiday pay, ACC and, critically, the cost of a wrong fit sit on our side of the ledger. If someone isn't right, we replace them; you don't pay twice for one seat.
Speed and risk transfer compound: managers stop firefighting vacancies and go back to running output. That, more than any hourly rate comparison, is what our long-term clients say they are actually buying.
